With summer hopefully arriving in New Zealand after all the rain I thought to compile a list of sun smart tips to keep us all safe from the glare of the harsh NZ sun.

A good rash top for swimming in the sea.

I purchased a Roxy one last year after suffering from multiple shoulder and back burns from the sun glare off the water. Look for the 50plus factor ones which offer superb protection thru your whole time on the beach. Only thing I found was the fabric clung to me when wet bonus if you want extra flotability though, match it with your favourite bikini bottoms many are very styley and pretty nowadays even floral prints - definitely worth investing in

Suncare factor 10/10

A Sun Hat

For years I never wore a sun hat having brunette hair was definitely not a good idea as I would come home with fried dry hair and a burnt scalp. I decided to start wearing a hat and noticed the difference in both my hair and scalp health.

There are some great hats out there whether your style is wide brimmed or like me a sporty cap it's well worth it to invest in a cap that you are comfortable in.

Skin cancer on the scalp can happen so cover up your locks and head today.

My favourite cap is the one below, I'm a sporty girl so prefer the peak ones a few other ideas to help u find the right one from Amazon surf and skate.

A good pair of Sunglasses

New Zealands sun glare can be very harsh on your eyes, my optometrist has recommended I use sun glasses everytime I go outside even if it's slightly overcast my eyes are sensitive to the NZ sun. There are many sunglass options on the market I would recommend definitely polarized sunglasses they bring out the colours around you and protect your eyes so much more.

If prescription sunglasses are what you require I recommend specsavers they have great 2 for 1 deals and my glasses I have are excellent from there have had them over a year now no issues.

Oakley, Ray-Ban, and designer glasses sunglass hut have them all and regular sales on as well.

Would definitely recommend wearing sunglasses every day in summer

Hair care product for a day at the beach

Salt, sea and sand can all have an impact on your hair especially if it's been coloured or bleached. Investing in a sun safe hair care product will not only keep your colour looking fresh but protect your hair from the harsh sun. Every time I come home from the beach I have curly dry salty hair. So I went on the search for a protective spray and this is the best product I found there are a few on the market but this seems to be the best one for protection from the sun great for hair and scalp

SPF makeup

My personal favourite is Natio SPF15 foundation

A light foundation makes your skin look dewy and fresh.. comes in a variety of skintone colours to match your skin.

The full cover formula has a high pigment load to refine skin texture and conceal blemishes, redness and uneven pigmentation. Intensively moisturising and easily blendable, the foundation allows skin to breathe without clogging pores so your complexion looks and feels fresh all day.
