Who remembers saving up their pocket money for their favourite beauty products as a teenager? I certainly do! And if there's one brand that instantly takes me back to those years, it's The Body Shop.
Some things never go out of style, and my love for The Body Shop is definitely one of them!
Growing up as a teenager, I remember saving my pocket money to buy my favourite strawberry shower gel and lip balm. I can still remember telling my Mum what I wanted and finally getting my hands on those little treats.
I even remember purchasing my favourite products during a weekend trip to Auckland. I couldn't wait to get back to school and wear the lip balm as I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup at school a little gloss helped.
It's funny how a familiar scent can instantly transport you back in time. That gorgeous strawberry fragrance still reminds me of my teenage years, and all these years later, it hasn't lost its charm.
Born Lippy – A Little Treat for Your Lips!
Recently, The Body Shop introduced its reimagined Born Lippy lip balm collection, and naturally, I was excited to give it a try!
With a range of delicious scents to choose from, there's something for everyone.
Being a strawberry lover, Strawberry Jam immediately caught my attention. But I have to admit, Caramel Cream is pretty amazing too!
I'm a huge fan of anything caramel or chocolate, so this one was always going to be a favourite too.
What I particularly love about these lip balms is how lightweight they feel. You get that lovely glossy finish without the heavy, sticky feeling that some lip products leave behind.
They also contain 95% natural-origin ingredients and are designed to help keep your lips feeling soft, smooth and hydrated.
After a few days of using mine, I've noticed my lips feel more moisturised, which is especially welcome after the harsh New Zealand winter.
And let's face it, who doesn't love a little pop of colour and shine to brighten their day?
For me, it's those simple everyday beauty products that make you feel good and give you confidence.
More Than Just Beauty Products
One of the things I've always admired about The Body Shop is that there's more to the brand than what you see sitting on the shelves.
The Body Shop has a long history of supporting communities and championing ethical sourcing.
Its Community Fair Trade programme began in 1987, originally known as Trade Not Aid.
The idea behind it was simple but powerful: creating opportunities for communities through trade.
Over the years, the programme has helped support producers and communities around the world through the sourcing of ingredients and accessories.
I think it's easy to forget that behind many of the beauty products we use every day, there are real people, families and communities involved in bringing those products to life.
And that's something worth thinking about.
A Little Bit of Nostalgia Goes a Long Way
Now that I'm in my 40s, I find myself appreciating those little things that bring back happy memories.
Whether it's a familiar fragrance, a favourite beauty product or something that reminds you of growing up, sometimes it's the simplest things that make us smile.
The Body Shop has been part of my life since my teenage years, so having the opportunity to review for them is a dream come true.
The Born Lippy collection brings together a little nostalgia, a touch of fun and some everyday lip care.
And while my teenage years might be well behind me, my love for a gorgeous strawberry lip balm certainly isn't! 🍓
Because sometimes a little lip balm isn't just about beauty. It's about the memories, the confidence and those small moments of happiness that stay with us.
And that, to me, is what makes a product special.
